Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasnt any form of wagering online always been illegal? It's just that the UIGEA didnt make anything that was legal before illegal now, right? So technically the UIGEA didnt make online poker illegal again because it is already illegal?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, it is not illegal.

There is a gray area regarding placing wagers over phone lines, but nothing has been set in stone yet regarding playing poker over the internet, on a federal level.

I'd do this in 2 seconds if I had like 40 million to my name and could afford the best PR person and gaming-saavy lawyers.

I'm also surprised that someone like Larry Flynt hasn't done something like this. He's a poker player, no?

I'm surprised that nobody has thought of this. (Or have they? Maybe this is the 'master plan' that will 'knock everybody's socks off')

Whoever goes through with it is

a) sure to get bailed out by the online sites
b) sure to get the best attourney in the world

The DOJ is chasing up PartyGaming's founders. As far as I'm aware they had nothing to do with Sports betting.

But funding one is, which is what you would be doing.

This is not true.

The UIGA only covers illegal gambling. Online poker is not illegal.

yeah but not sportsbetting

The Wire Act basically only applies to sportsbetting. And a London court recently found poker to be a game of luck, which in the courts eyes makes it no different than any casino game.

Casino.
