NL$200: low PP faces a cbet - General line?
Hero is CO with 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
UTG opens for $6, UTG+1 folds, Hero calls, Button calls, Sb & BB fold. Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG leads for 12 into $20 pot, Hero? Ok obviously in this example its not HU, and being sandwiched sucks specially with no reads so folding seems pretty dam standard. So when your headsup in this spot, on this type of flop whats your line? Raise? Call? What do you if OOP also, Donk? c/c? or just give up? Playing pocketpairs for setvalue is ok i guess, but as you move up i guess we've all gotta get out the comfort zones and start making plays. Assume unknown as ive no stats when viewing this vid |

Yeh i want discussion on the HU line tho, when would you raise? when would you call?
What are the reasons you have for raising and equally for calling? |

If it is heads up, you can call or fold. Folding will get you in a lot less trouble.
Sandwiched, it is an easy fold. |

This totally depends on opponents preflop numbers, aggression, and history.

Re: NL$200: low PP faces a cbet - General line?
what are the stack sizes, why did you cold call w/ 3's, what is your plan, what do you know about the raiser? when you cold calling to hit a set you need implied odds and thats NOT what is in your and your opponets stacks its what you expect your opponent to LOSE if you hit. a mistake i see time and time again is players trying to hit a flop to break a player who is unbreakable because he wont commit his whole stack w/ 1 pair his effective stack for implied odds is about a 3rd of what he has on the table.

Re: NL$200: low PP faces a cbet - General line?
In this particular hand, I'm folding the flop as you're sandwiched between another player. HU, I usually float this flop against most players unless they're super nitty or don't c/bet often.
Also, agree 100% with limon here. Why are you playing this hand? Are you going to get paid if you hit your set? It's no good calling preflop raises everytime you have a small pocket pair unless you have some sort of plan for the hand. Sometimes you should re-raise preflop, sometimes cold call if you feel you have enough implied odds, sometimes call if you feel you can take the play away. You need to have a reason for why you're playing 33 and alike. Many players just play it to hit a set and will constantly check fold the flop. Or if they float the flop, will fold the turn. It can be very easy to spot these kind of players and you can take advantage of them by betting them off the hand as they won't get past the turn unless they have a set. |

You cannot know what to do best in this spot without a read on his preflop range and what he is likely to do on the turn if you call. Its pretty much that simple.
