This hazing actually happened at my school 2 years ago. The person who it happened to ended up dropping out of college ball and school due to psychological trauma. It got the entire football team suspended for a season and basically shamed our entire school nationally.

(It wasn't a fraternity, just the sports team but same concept).

I was in a fraternity and do not hate them.

Although I will concede that I don't think fraternities, for the most part, attract quality individuals anymore. They use to attract the highly motivated, scholastic, philanthropic, intellectual BMOC leader types. Now I think they attract more of the "man, I never had many friends before so I think I'll join a frat so I can get drunk and get laid and haze pledges!!!!!" types. Where they used to be full of leaders, now they're full of followers.

It saddens me.

i was in one for a year. i hate them because i hated the people in mine. i was always getting busted out for smoking pot and not doing anything. i guess if you're friends with the guys it's fun.

fraternities have structure, and as a pledge, if you don't like that, you probably shouldn't be in one. i agree, hazing can be stupid and pointless, but so are a lot of other things that we don't like to do. if you dont like the guys in the fraternity you are pledging, that sucks and you should probably quit because it probably wont get better. living in dorms would suck as well if you didn't like anyone on your floor or in your hall for that matter. its all relative.
brag: i never had to live in a dorm. we moved into the fraternity a week before school started freshmen year.
