I had a bad feeling right from the pre flop re raise that villain might be on AA only because it was an instant re raise. Still, my thinking went that I'll still be relatively happy to get this all in on a non A flop. So instead of re raising all in I called. From here I figured I can win this two ways - my KK is good or I can bet him out and the only time that would work is a C/R all in. So as planned that's how it went. BUT two things made me re-think this whole hand: the c-bet from the villain was very quick, as was the pre flop re raise. So is this how this hand should have been played out? Should I just have re popped it all in pre flop? Should I have just raised to say $20 on the flop and folded to any further action? Just call the flop? Lead the flop? Hmmmmm.... |

I will re-raise every chance I get PF with KK or AA, so I would've ended up pushing then

pushing looks bad because most hands that call you are gonna have you beat right? AA, QQ, JJ, TT are about the only hands that call but then again any reraise commits him to the pot

reraise preflop. I'm not sure about the flop shove, but i'd stick in a normal raise here. It's not a great board, especially after the Q, as basically his entire range has you beat on the turn, but i'm guessing he had aces after he called the flop.

Of course you can't make assumptions about the flop play based on the turn card. Anyway, that reraise is so massive that he will have a very good hand that he will call with. AA, JJ, TT obviously. So the only hand that you beat is QQ (that goes on to suck out on you, bad luck). If he is a fish, he might call with AK. But that would be extraordinary, imo.
To make these flop situations easier, I'm happy about every opportunity to build a huge pot preflop. So I reraise him there so that I can put him AI on the flop without having to make a tough decision. |
