Remember, statutory laws over ride anything you signed in a contract.

Stick it to management and file a complaint for good measure.

OP,

also note that while you don't want to burn any bridges, the likelihood of getting a good recommendation from your mngt decreases with this measure. What I mean is, this decision really hurts their credibility.
