Default sunglasses

cliff's notes at bottom

ok, so i had an awesome pair of genuine aviators that i got from walgreens for like 14.99 for 5 years. oh how i loved them.

unfortunately, i lost them a few months ago, and need some new sunglasses.

i'm a little more well-to-do since my college years, so i looked at some ray-bans. i found some good ones for like 150, but decided i'd probably lose them on the way to the parking lot.

i then thought about going the cheap rout again, and browsed through some when i was at wal-mart. they had some that looked OK, but i think they intentionally jack them up so that they can sell them for only 10 or whatever. all the angles are all messed up, so they're good if you only always look at the ground.

so, what i want is a decent pair for around $50-$75. all i can seem to find are ones >$100 and <$20. where should i go to look, and any suggestions?

fyi: i like the aviator look, but will settle for just some plain looking ones. i want to steer clear of the sporty type ones.

cliff's notes
where can i find sunglasses for around $50-$75, and what are some good suggestions of the kind to by.

I went through this about 2 years ago...just go for it...buy your first expensive pair...lose them...then buy the next expensive pair...the second one usually sticks around for a while(had my second pair goin 2 years now)

Sounds like me, but I always manage to lose or mess them up eventually (usually after a year or so). The sunglasses game is rigged.

is there really not a place to find semi-nice ones for $50 or so? i really do like some of the ray-ban's styles, but i'm turned off by the "RAY-BAN" up in the corner of the lenses. there has to be a middle ground.

should i try department stores?

There really isn't a middle ground. I've definitely noticed this before as well. There's just not much selection in sunglasses in the $40-$90 range.

Get a pair of Wayfarers.

These are the best aviators ever. Not sure how you can try them on tho, but i love these. They are cheap enough that if you dont like them you can just not wear them. Enjoy
