$25 87s... learning to play cash, and suited connectors, etc
Did I play this hand horribly?

Fold it preflop.
As played I would have folded it after BB bet 4$. |

I'd probably just fold UTG at full ring. As played, fold the flop. Any J is a pretty questionable out, since it gives any K a higher straight. The flush draw is also out there, so you can't be sure you have any more than 3 clean outs, if that.

Re: $25 87s... learning to play cash, and suited connectors, etc
fold/raise pf depending on table (usually fold). There are situations when open-limping utg is fine, but quite rarely imo. flop is an easy fold, you have the idiot end of a draw. A J will not be a good card to see. You have 3 clean outs (6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] isan't very good either), plus you might already be beat!
Turn might be a good time for a sb, looks like villain didnt like that K. However most of the time you should check. River, fold obviously. |

Re: $25 87s... learning to play cash, and suited connectors, etc
Preflop: I'd fold preflop UTG. SC's are best played from LP. Remember, position is your friend.
Flop: Sure, your OESD looks nice, but hitting the straight is probably your only win, a Jack could easily (likely?) make someone else a higher straight, the 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] isn't a clean out, and with this many callers preflop, I wouldn't be surprised if someone has KJ for the nut straight already. Not to mention the two players behind you that could come over the top. Just fold and find a better spot than this. At least you didn't put any additional money in on the turn/river. |

Re: $25 87s... learning to play cash, and suited connectors, etc
Preflop depends on table conditions; to limp that UTG you need a table that is passive preflop and will pay off postflop when you hit.
The flop call is bad. You realize you're drawing to the ass end, right? |
