Easy question!
Forgive my ignorance, but I’ve been out of the game for quite a while & I forget how to do this. All of my books were loaned out years ago & never returned. (go figure)
Anyway... If I’m getting 2:1 on my money, and I have a 37% chance of winning... is a call the correct move? What is the break even % of 2:1 pot odds? Sorry for the dumb question. I know this will be locked quickly after being answered. |

Of course this assumes that 1/3 is the probability of making your winning hand on the next card, or before you have to put any more money in. |

Re: Easy question!
2:1 pot odds is equivalent to 1/3 . If your odds against are a:b , then the probability of winning is b/(a+b) .
You have a 100-37= 63% chance of losing and a 37% chance of winning . Therefore your odds against losing are 63%/37% = 1.7:1 . Since you're getting pot odds of 2:1 which is better than 1.7:1 , a call is mandatory ! Put another way , 2:1 means that the break even point is 33 % . (twice you lose , one time you win ) . 37%> 33% |
