Default Beat: Resume Gap

I've decided to get a job after a 1 year stunt of being a pro.. now I have a 1 year gap on my resume. I'm 24. What should I do?

1. Leave it blank
2. Make up some stuff about starting my own business, but not referring to poker specifically
3. ????

A year? A year is nothing. A year is always 'traveling'. Try a 4 and then a 5 year gap, that's a little trickier.

Depending on what you did before, you could possibly write something about you wanting to travel before jumping onto the career ladder, or maybe recreation due to stress.

BackPack trip across europe.... Ever seen Hostel?

Or rehab.

Both are excellent fillers....

Can't forget good ole prison.... When asked why?
You say "I beat my last boss within an inch of his life for giving me a hard time about sleeping with his daughter".. Then say "Is that a problem?"

Tell 'em you wrote a novel and tried to get it published. If they ask for a manuscript just cut and paste trip reports from online forums.

Serious statement: you were an independent probability consultant. Go from there, e.g.: performed statistical and other probability analysis under framework of major international corporate online infrastructure.

Not lying, and if there are questions, the work was "confidential in nature." It is. You don't want people to know what you were doing.

Good luck.
