PS NL100 - 2 ugly hands with JJ
These 2 hands happened within about 10 minutes of each other on the same table. Villian in hand 2 is different, but very likely saw the first hand, as it was a very large, and time-consuming pot.
Hand 1: Button is 18/14/3 over about 250 hands. BB is 40/10 station. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver) BB ($56.80) Hero ($203.50) MP ($17.60) CO ($112.65) Button ($98.50) SB ($18.40) Preflop: Hero is UTG with J, J. Hero raises to $4, 2 folds, Button raises to $14, 1 fold, BB calls $13, Hero calls $10. Re: PS NL100 - 2 ugly hands with JJ
Hand 1- turn is good. River I would just check. You could bet/fold, but there's a good chance you're behind. What are the chances neither of them has AK or QQ in this situation?
Hand 2- I would raise a little less PF, but that's nitpicking. Otherwise standard. |

Re: PS NL100 - 2 ugly hands with JJ
Hand 1: flop check is horrible. Bet $35 pot here and the hand plays itself.
Hand 2: bet more on flop. Turn is 2:1 as played, better than that if you bet flop bigger, so easy call. |

Hand 1: flop check is horrible. Bet $35 pot here and the hand plays itself. [/ QUOTE ] Possibly. I have to say, I thought a bet from the button was pretty close to 100%, and I had a good chance to trap the BB in between for a big raise. Obviously I was wrong. [ QUOTE ] Hand 2: bet more on flop. Turn is 2:1 as played, better than that if you bet flop bigger, so easy call. [/ QUOTE ] I don't like this reasoning at all. Why not just bet all but 1 dollar on the flop? That would make the turn REAL easy. I bet about 2/3 pot, which I think is pretty standard for a reraised pot. Yes, turn is 2:1, but is my hand 2:1? |

Yes, turn is 2:1, but is my hand 2:1? [/ QUOTE ] I agree number 2 is fold. From his point of view he raised UTG yet you 3bet him from the BB. He has to put you on a strong hand. He is calling the 3bet with a decent hand. He's a tight player too. He had no problem hanging around on the flop after all this strength you've shown. You only beat TT. He has AA-QQ very often. I'll take a guess at KK. The turn bet feels like he knows he's got you on the hook. He probably puts you on exactly what you have and thinks you wont be able to get away from your over pair. On number 1 I'd check the river and decide. I doubt I'd call a huge bet, but I'd find it hard not to call something like a 1/3 PSB. He's a very tight player from the stats. I'm sure he is at least halfway thinking so he should not bet AA or KK on the end which allows you to get to showdown against them. Otherwise what do you beat? TT? AK and QQ are a big part of his betting range and a PSB is too much to check up on TT. A factor too is that the pot is protected by the fishy BB being in. Button can't really get too out of order. |
