North Carolina residents...Whats your plan?
Over the past 6 years living in Raleigh, getting my poker fix was easy. Fire up my laptop and hope on Stars, Party or FTP. That may not work going forward, so I am curious about what you NC residents are planning.
I take about 4 AC (Borgata) trips per year, but it is a 7 hour drive (1 way) and getting any more trips in is not a realistic option (says the wife). I doubt Cherokee is going to offer a poker room, and if it did, its still 5 hours away or more. So...What have you been doing or what will you be doing? |

speaking of which, any of you N carolineans heard anything about Cherokee recently? I heard they built a poker room a while back but the opening is hung up due to some wrangling with the state.
any new news? |

Re: North Carolina residents...Whats your plan?
I think Delta has pretty cheap flights to Vegas and I'll take that over a 7hr drive to the Borg. Either that or I'll have to learn NL and get involved some of the $1-2 homegames in the area.
I'm actually not moving down to the Raleigh area until the end of February but that's my plan. |

Vegas is 4hr flight-- direct on southwest runs one once a day. AC is about the same (fly to philly then rent car drive to AC).

You might want to check for cheap flights to Tunica?

Re: North Carolina residents...Whats your plan?
yeah, it really sucks not having a casino close by. WE HAVE POWERBALLL NOW THOUGH. WOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOO! And u can play real, live, digital black-jack at Cherokee!
Seriously though, I don't think Cherokee will ever have it and even if they do spread poker, it'll prob be mostly low limit. I am from Philly, so I go home and to AC a couple times a year and have made 3 vegas trips the last year and will continue at about that rate in the future. R u in Raleigh/ Durham area? If u know of any games, please PM me. |

Re: North Carolina residents...Whats your plan?
I live in CLT. I heard (and read) that WV is looking into legalizing table games (not sure if this includes poker or not.) Beckley and Charleston are about 3 and 4.5 hrs away by car.

Re: North Carolina residents...Whats your plan?
When I said I make 4 AC trips per year, I bmean I make 4 casino trips per year (with last year being all 4 to AC).
There are random home games that can be found online, but some of those dont look particulary safe. I guess I am stuck playing with my buddies until NC decides to open up a cardroom (and seeing as how we just got the lottery, I will be old and grey before a cardroom comes to NC) |
