Re: introduce a band to oot via youtube and wikipedia
Astroglide, thank you for the good idea and especially using the make-up. This band is awesome, and I can't believe they broke up in 2001. I saw them play a couple of times, the last one being at the Texas Union Ballroom, and I could swear it was more recent than '01, but time flys. !st time I saw them live, I thought the lead singer might be mildly retarded, and I'm still not so sure. He is one of the most riveting performers ever, anywhere. What a great band.
My contribution is the Mclusky http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLusky http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgkzRE89Gyw the song is Lightsabre Coccksucking Blues, what more you a pmusic fan ask for? Props to posts of Daisy Chainsaw, Doc Watson, and Roky Erickson/13th Floor Elevators. |

Birth of a Creature - Shpongle
These guys have been hugely influential to the psychadelic trance movement and music is about the best produced stuff you'll hear. The linked vid is just their stuff over a cool animation, but it beats watchinig them stand behind turntables at a show. |

Vigilantes of Love - Resplendant
a little known now defunct Athens, GA band - great songs - lousy label timing - Emmylou Harris is singing backup on this track - and you'll see the lead singer playing a Gretsch thru a very old Fender Tweed - I ended up snagging those from him when money got tight - (I might own the Rickenbacker too - I bought one of his Rickie's but I don't think it was that one) good guy - will ask him about a house concert at some point. rb |
