Tell me what you know about Panama
I'm being 'dragged' to Panama for a bachelor party in a few months. I assume because it will be very warm, casinos, hot Latinas of course, good dance clubs, and scrippas/etc to the max - or at least that was strongly hinted at.
I've never been, so any advice is welcome. $ is generally not an object if you have recommendations. Most of this crew lives and works in Manhattan. |

Re: Tell me what you know about Panama
If there are any non-idiot suggestions, that would be great.
I totally didn't see the Canal or Van Halen jokes coming, nope, not a bit. So original. [And the Spring Break in Panama Beach either...] |

[And the Spring Break in Panama Beach either...] [/ QUOTE ] You didn't ask for suggestions, the title of your thread says tell me what you know. I know they have a canal, and that Van Halen wrote a kick ass song about the country. I also assume they have beaches (maybe next to the canal) you could go swimming. I assume if you flash your balla cash around the poor slooty latina chickas will be all over you like salsa on a chip. |

Re: Tell me what you know about Panama
I spent three consectutive Januarys while in college. I taught at a music camp and stayed with a host family. The daughter was my age so she took me around to chill. Some thoughts:
1. Pretty urban downtown, but definitely used a car to get around. Buses were treacherous. There's an old part to Panama City that's kind of nice and historic- Panama Viejo. Plenty of slummy looking places around, but also very nice middle class suburbs. Was like an American city - reminded me of Miami (although I've only been there twice), except the slums looked worse. 2. Went to the canal several times. Was okay. Something to see, but not awesome. 3. Hit several clubs. These were always fun. Hot women in general. Music was fine, drinks were cool. Soberana and Panama are two of the local beers that come to mind. Also, Seco is a hard alcohol thing that tasted pretty good. They'd use this to make pina colada type drinks. 4. Spent a lot of time in El Valle, a dormant volcano valley. Absolutely beautiful - huge green mountains, abundant wildlife. Maybe a 2 hour drive outside of the city. 5. Also went to Isla Grande a few times, a small island off the Atlantic coast. This was pretty nice, you took a small motorboat over and chilled on the beach. 6. Attended a baseball game at the national stadium. Awesome. 12o beers were like 50 cents. Plenty of other evenings out were not particularly cheap, though. No casinos for me. This was pre-poker boom, so I just looked at the shiny lights. People were abundantly friendly. There are plenty of Americans around, so Panamanians are used to us. Lots of people speak English, some without an accent. Weird spot for a bachelor party. Let me know if you've got other questions. I plan to go back at some point. I loved it down there every time I went. |

Re: Tell me what you know about Panama
I was stationed there in the late 80's when the embargo was going on with all the Noriega [censored] before we took him out.I loved the place. The women were super hot and easy.It was also dirt cheap. The average income is like $1500 a year. They had this ridic restaurant called LA CASCADA some French dude owned on the Malecon with the HOTTEST waitresses I've seen anywhere.Steak and Lobster and a pitcher of Sangria for $5.Of course, this was in 88.A couple of my Air Force buddies married Panamanian girls and go back often. They say it is still paradise for Americans.A poor man's Miami.I got more ass there than anywhere in the world. And most of them were women!
