Re: Never invested before, want to invest in Crude Oil, how?
OIH is a collection of Oil companies.
http://finance.google.com/finance?q=OIH I believe USO is directly levered to crude prices. The war with Iran is coming sooner or later so I'm guessing this would be decent place to put some money. |

buy conoco phillips (NYSE:COP). Hold for 15-20 years. Profit. errrrrr get more than a few hundred dollars first though so you're not paying 5% in commission. [/ QUOTE ] ^^^^^What this guy said. I only own 3 stocks (not good I know, but Im in the midst of moving some money around) and COP is one of them. They have a very low P/E. |

Re: Never invested before, want to invest in Crude Oil, how?
The best way to invest in crude oil is to travel to an oil field and fill up some barrels with oil and then store them in your garage.
Seriously though, it is very difficult investing directly in commodities. I tried when silver was at $4.50. I was unable to easily do it (before the ETFs existed) and I missed out. Now it is at $13. Your best bet is to go with OIH or some other tracker. |

Re: Never invested before, want to invest in Crude Oil, how?
As stated by previous posters your best bet with that much capital is to buy an ETF or some of the larger cap oils like CVX or XOM. To trade crude futures outright you need at least $2k.
