Courier Flights
After combing through endless crappy travel site reviews that ultimately lead to advertisements for dubious services or products, I am turning to the foremost experts on everything for information on courier flights, standby flights, auction flights, or any combination of the three.
Courier flights seem the most promising. Anyone have experience with transatlantic courier flights? The flexibility involved is no concern, and the savings can be used for better purposes. |

Can you please explain the whole idea of a courier flight? [/ QUOTE ] This is a geat explanation from another forum... "A person acting as a courier usually gives up some or all of his or her luggage so that the courier company can use that luggage alotment to send something that has to be there overnight. Many times, it is not anything bulky, but just paper work. The reason people use courier services is because a live person can clear customs on the same day of arrival. If the delivery goes through a shipping company, then it may sit in the customs docks for days, or even weeks. The courier comany arranges a deal with the airlines to always have a seat saved for one of their couriers. That way they know that they can make the deadline. So, even if they do not have anything to deliver, they will sell a courier a ticket at a discount. If they do have something to deliver and they do not have that seat booked close to the flight date, they may give the courier a big discount on the flight." I've read that costs for flights are usually 50% or less, occassionally free if you are lucky. All of these are very last minute bookings. |

Re: Courier Flights
Courier flights will only be an option if you live in NYC or LA. If you want to get the good courier deals, you will have to be able to drop everything and be at the airport in a couple of hours. |
