Default Set Mining... flop looks good, but trouble on the river

Villian is an unknown but has been quite nitty so far (should that have set off warning bells?)

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.10/$0.25
9 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $25.10
UTG+1: $23.15
MP1: $14.25
MP2: $9.25
MP3: $24.60
Hero: $37.35
Button: $25.50
SB: $25.10
BB: $8.95

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is CO with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
UTG calls, <font color="#cc0000">UTG+1 raises to $1</font>, 3 folds, Hero calls, 4 folds.

Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($2.6, 2 players)
UTG+1 checks, <font color="#cc0000">Hero bets $1.5</font>, UTG+1 calls.

Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($5.6, 2 players)
UTG+1 checks, <font color="#cc0000">Hero bets $2.5</font>, UTG+1 calls.

River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($10.6, 2 players)
<font color="#cc0000">UTG+1 bets $10.6 </font>, hero raises/calls (and why?)

Villian's play worried me a little c/c c/c and then pots it screams monster, i'm not folding but whats your take on the hand?

Push. If you're worried about T8 or 86 here, you need to find a new game. If you're going to just call out of fear of AA, when this is played NOTHING like AA, you need to find a new game.

thanks for the response. as no one else seems to have anything else to add results as follows;

Converter

River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($10.6, 2 players)
<font color="#cc0000">UTG+1 bets $10.6</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $21.2</font>, <font color="#cc0000">UTG+1 calls all-in $7.55</font>.
Uncalled bets: $3.05 returned to Hero.

Results:
Final pot: $46.9
<font color="#ffffff">UTG+1 showed Ah Ac</font>
<font color="#ffffff">Hero showed 7s 7h</font>

Now as you said playing a set scared for around 100BB would be weak but honestly do you not think this is played like AA. The flop and the turn could be AJ or AQ trying to keep the pot small but the pot bet on the river...
What else would you put him on, AK, AQ, AJ etc or an PP wouldnt do that would they?
A9 maybe but before i raised i thought AA but couldnt bring myself to just call as with a set i always want to play for stacks, maybe i shoulda gone with my gut.
Oh well thats a cooler i suspose.

Let the hand run for a bit. It looks like it was only posted a few hours ago. Now that results are known the hand is probably over for discussion.

Uh, I bet 2 on the flop and (as played) 4.5 on the turn .. your bets are really small. As played, I push this all day. If he has AA, [censored] it. Reload and stack his ass.

If i was against someone who was a bit less weak-tight i'd be betting a lot more but she was extremely tight and i wanted her along for the ride, but point taken, thanks for the input.

I expect to see a Ax for two pair here. Your set is definitely good and if he did hit his straight here, you lose your money and don't leave that table until he does. I definitely think your betting is a little transparent, bet at least 3/4 of the pot on the flop and turn, push river w/o hesitation. +EV hand.
