Good Lunch Substitute?
One of my biggest resolutions was to get back in shape, I had a pretty bad accident Nov of 05 and had not been back to the gym since. I'm currently on a routine where I work out through lunch, and eat something like an hour before. The problem is, whatever I'm usually eating (prepackaged sandwiches, soups, etc) is not holding me down for longer than 1-1.5 hours, so I wind up eating before I work out and then an hour after. I'm thinking this can't be good? Is there something out there for people like me?

Re: Good Lunch Substitute?
Eating multiple small meals is better than trying to eat one meal and then nothing for 5 or 6 hours. Yogurt cups, fruit, beef jerky, stuff like that is better than vending machine crap.

If you're hungry, you're not getting enough protein.

Re: Good Lunch Substitute?
What's on the sandwiches? You can probably eat more if you change what it is you are eating.

[/ QUOTE ] That's what I was thinking. I routinely eat a morning snack, and then think "Oops, that snack was too much; now I'm not going to be hungry in a couple hours." Another point: What you eat in the couple hours after exercising makes a pretty big difference. Most americans don't really need more protein in general, but drinking a recovery shake or something after you work-out will have real benefits. -Sam |

I no longer eat that way b/c I no longer need to, but I am confident that Atkin's-related health concerns are unwarranted. Low-carb, high protein/fat is the way to go. Edit: I was never hungry on Atkins. I basically only ate b/c I felt it was too weird to skip meals. And I still love bacon and eggs. |
