Default Dual monitors mirroring

im trying to install dual monitors on my computer. they're set up and both work, but im getting a mirrored image on both monitors with two mouse cursors that do the exact same thing. i'd like it so it's one cursor that can go across both screens and so i could drag things across the screens.

im wondering if the problem is in my video card, which is a ATI Raedon xpress 200 series.

anyone know what i can do to solve this?

There should be a check box on the montor setting screen that says mirror, then it should show you a graphic representation of multiple monitors which will let you position them how you want them.

What do you mean 'not working?' There is no check box? There is no tab under display properties? If that is the case the card may not support anything but mirroring. Did you check for driver updates on the ATI site? I'd check there.

Right click your desktop>Select Properties>Settings Tab. Then highlight your secondary monitor (click on it), and check the box that says 'Extend Windows desktop onto this monitor". Then hit apply.

You'll need a little program called Ultramon if you want a task bar on your secondary display. But other than that, you are all set.
