Re: j9o in sb

I don't really like the flop check/raise. You are building a big pot out of position with a hand whose equity isn't that great even when ahead. Also, you allow the possibility of the flop checking through, and then you'll be really lost when the turn is the Qs or the 4h. I'd just bet the flop and take it from there. [/ QUOTE ] Good post. I'd never looked at it this way but I agree with you. |

Re: j9o in sb
About the flop check raise, I don't think the "building a big pot" is a big factor. I think what's more important is how people will play their hands when you check and how they'll play when you bet. A flop check could induce some hands to take a stab, when they would have folded to a bet.

Re: j9o in sb
I bet a fuckload of hands here, so I dont check-raise much in this spot. Only once in a while for balance.
Anyways, there are tons of cards that will put you in a tough spot on the turn if it gets checked through and there arenīt really that many that will give them second best hands. Also, you actually represents strenght when you get your check-raise in, which may cause you to get less value than by just bet, bet, betting it. |
