It didn't die.

On the 28th Dave said it was going to take a week or more because of some issues with the way FTP has certain things set up.

I am not a programmer so I can't quote exactly what the issue was.

Something to do with the ability to grab the button images.

This is awesome. I'm one of the two 2p2ers who still plays on AP so if support ever gets added for that I'd be thrilled.

Def. not finished with this one yet... I said to Greg it would take at least a week mainly because I planned to be drinking with freinds / family every night until new years, which I did No I am starting to get back into stuff, although the temptation to play many millions of hands on Stars for a "free" WSOP, Monte Carlo EPT entry etc. is a minor distraction Probably will realise the futility of that quest soon enough though lol.

I've got a few different ideas how to deal with the weirdo way FTP draws it's controls (outside of the main WM_PAINT routine is my guess, if that means anything to anyone). This is what causes the missing buttons. One idea is bound to work well

Also I have been reading up on the GDIplus techniques CrashPat mentioned above, which hopefully can lead to significantly improved performance - which would be nice Looks kinda tricky, and I haven't done any experimentation with it yet, so time will tell.

dave.

Another thing that would help would be to write your own image resize routine, if you think about it only a portion of the window changes each time you grab it, a lot of it is background that stays the same, but when you do an image resize a bicubic interpolation occurs for every point on the new window, that is why cpu usage increases so dramatically as you increase the size of the window. What would work very well would be to define areas that need to be redrawn and areas that don't and after making the first copy just redraw the areas that might have changed. Here is an image with what you might want to cut out in pink. http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/2...iltpinkjm1.png

In that image there are 436,756 pixels, and 160,700 would be used, so only about 37% of the total, so unless the gdi resize routines are very clever you should get a significant speed increase.

This wouldn't be easy to do, but not that hard either. You would have to have a different set of rectangles that you would resize for different table layouts, but it may be worth looking into. Let me know if you want help with it.

Dave, just for your amusement...

I peeked at the stats for the overcards.com web site so far for January. The BetPot page is leading the second most frequently viewed page by a ratio of about 30:1.
