[ QUOTE ]
Father and Son by Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam) and Fight Test by the Flaming Lips is the first one that comes to mind for me. I still like that Flaming Lips song and album though. [/ QUOTE ] Hah! That's my favorite song by them. Now I know why I like it so much. |

Re: Song Ripoffs
I'm tempted to say anything on the pop/R&B charts in the last however many years.
For whatever reason, that S.O.S. song comes to mind because I was telling my wife that it's just [censored] Tainted Love with some [censored] "singing" over it. She loved the song, though, so she wasn't having any of it. I can't believe how much of the music she (and a good chunk of America) listens to is blatantly ripped off of earlier, better music. |

Re: Song Ripoffs
I think a few people are failing to see the difference between ripping off and sampling. Sampling usually gives acknowledgement to the original artist and uses minimal manipulation of the beat or riff used.
ps. from a creative sense, it's still usually a rip-off to me |

Re: Song Ripoffs
Btw, for anyone who's old enough, my original inspiration was this little number:
I'm stuck on Band-aid, cuz Band-aid's stuck on me We got a great big Convoy, rockin through the night |

Re: Song Ripoffs
The beginnings of Prince's "1999" and Phil Collins' "Susudio" are so similar, that when one of them comes on the radio, it's really tough to tell which song it's going to be.
These songs were both hits at the same time, so it was always fun to try to guess which song it was. |
