I am a contractor for DishNetwork and they have the best overall HD, both package and price. 26 HD channels + Local HD's for like 54.99, first 10 months 34.99.

Does not cost ya anything to set up either.

System I set my parents up with.

Bill with DishNetwork- $ 49.79 (with tax)
Bill with TimeWarner- 125.00 (with tax)

Cable HD channels - 12
Dish Network HD channels - 26

Just look around at what people pay with cable. DishNetwork's prices are way lower.

We were paying about 160 for the platinum digital/wireless internet. My gf happened to call the phone company one day and got our bill lowered, I don't remember the details. So she decided to call Comcast and asked about any current deals or something, again I don't remember the details, but they ended up dropping our bill to 90-ish.

I think it is ~$120 but I'm not sure because one of my housemates takes care of the bill. Digital cable with every movie channel, and internet. I have 4 housemates.

FWIW, you can and should negotiate with Comcast for pricing. You can do the same with DTV, but can get even more of a discount off their advertised prices. DTV has much worse customer service and policies though, so I'm done with them.

Satellite isn't an option when you don't have a clear south facing area to mount the dish on. Basically with my apartment, I don't have anything to mount it on.

Oh yeah, I asked my a couple coworkers today what they were paying. I forget the exact numbers, but one also lives in Orange County and the other in San Diego and they had very similar costs for the cable portion of their bills. They have full channels, too. We get raped here in So Cal.
