Default Slowplaying!!!! Bad Beat at 1/2 NL at Majestic Star Casino - Gary, IN

This bad beat happened at around 2:45 AM on a late Thursday night/Friday Morning. This table was a pretty loose table with multiple people calling raises big raises with mediocre hands. I had a stack of 338 and saw AK spades. A raise of 12 was made by a player in early position, I knew if I just called the raise, everyone in the table was going to call the 12 so I made a re-raise to 50. A player in the small blind who had a huge stack around 850 called 50 preflop with 67 offsuit. This player was one of those players who loved to outplay you after the flop. The flop comes J74 spades. He checks and then I start my acting job and think about it for a little bit and bet out 45. He calls. The turn comes 6 of spades. He checks again and I think about it and check. I definately dont put him on a set because he would have raised the flop if he had one because of the 3 spades.
7 of clubs hits on the river. He leads out with 200. I play the hand again in my memory. I put him on a Jack or Queen of spades, he couldn't possibly have the full house in my mind. I call and he shows 67 for the full house. I lost the rest of my 43 a few hands later with AJ versus AK.

I normally don't slowplay but against this particular opponent I thought it might be the right strategy since I flopped such a powerful hand and I knew if he sensed weakness in me he would try to steal the pot.
This player had already won a couple of big pots earlier on bluffs that he had showed. He overbets the pot on the river to try to get people off top pair and it had worked twice for him.

Was I wrong to slowplay against this opponent?
Of course, now that I know he had 2 pair on the turn, I regret checking on the turn, but for all I knew he could have been drawing dead and I made a good play. It did not turn out that way for me in the end.

So do you count your stack after every hand? Well played flop/turn.
