Re: 3 Preflop Hand Questions
In your 88 hand one more caller makes it a definite call in my book, especially with some non-LAG read on the BB.
[ QUOTE ] yeah my postflop play is questionable at this point as i have only read through sshe once but im getting there. should i tighten up till i feel more confident? [/ QUOTE ] You should still 3bet hand 1 but def. fold hand 2. Don't open ATo/KJo until MP unless the table is crazy soft or you really know what you're doing. |

Re: 3 Preflop Hand Questions
1) AQo plays better with fewer opponents...thus it is a raise/fold situation...i would raise to fold out the blinds, but folding is okay too
2) ATo is a marginal hand...i would fold it from early position...if i were to play it UTG it would be only at a tight table and i would hope to get very few callers, possibly steal from UTG 3) fold...BB & UTG figure to call...and at 11% preflop raise, MP figures to have a higher pair than us about 1/3 the time, the rest of the time he has overcards, often suited... |

Re: 3 Preflop Hand Questions
OP- IMO you should look at close plays (i.e. the ones with the warning you need to be very good post flop)from the perspective that playing it well also means you are chasing a very small edge. Fine for long time good players but the rest of us aren't giving up much by not playing it either. Tight may not always be right. But it is rarely wrong.

Sometimes I'll count the BB, I'll count people who limped in before the raisor. Otherwise it's a fold. [/ QUOTE ] What considerations do i make when it comes to the type of players that have entered... obv against 2 TAG players im not going to be calling here.. 3? what about 2 LAG's or 2 LPP's? TY for the responces so far. Im just trying to get a better grasp on this concept. Any links? |

Re: 3 Preflop Hand Questions
Once you get 5-handed, LAGs are the best because you don't lose that much if it gets 3bet preflop (Exception: it has a very high probability of being capped) and you want to get into a raising war when you flop your set. LPPs are second best because they won't 3bet/cap much and will peel stupid junk. Rocks are the worst, probably even worse than TAGs because they won't put in many raises against you and you won't find yourself in many situations where you want them to fold (or really any if the PP in question is 22).

Re: 3 Preflop Hand Questions
Hmmmmmm,
1. Sometimes fold, sometimes 3bet. 2. If people have been cc'ing liberally, I would fold. If you're comfortable with your postflop play, you can raise. I don't like a limp at all. 3. It seems most of the responses here were fold, with the choice being between a cool call and a fold. I would also consider a 3bet here. This is of course dependant on if you feel the BB (and possibly UTG) will lay down to 2 cold. -Jaran |
