In most cases the preflop raiser will continue to bet on the flop... You don't want to take away his lead here. I wouldn't suspect a flush draw here, so I would check call the flop and check raise the turn.

The other option is to bet out like you did, and then check-raise the turn, it could look like you were on a steal on the flop. If he checks behind on the turn, your river bet looks even more like a steal.
