How civilised John is! Many of us swear and curse and wish damnation on our opponents over small sums. Here he is showing magnamity in defeat. The manner in which you lose used to be held as the measure of a noble gambler.

I'm not thrilled about Dags' pot raise here.

He's basically hoping his bottom set holds up, which is bad.

His turn call is bad, too. There is no flush on the board, or straight.. what is he putting DB on?

The best he can hope for is for DB to have an OESD on the turn. But why would DB fire out this strongly with OESD on a non-scare turn card when Dags is showing strength?

if you watch DB play you'd know he can have many hands that Dags is ahead of here

Stinger,

With that being true, are you saying that a player is thus always destined to go broke with 300+ big blinds with bottom set and no defensive draws on a headsup table when beat by a higher set on that type of board?

And if DB had instead checked the turn when he spiked that set, would or should have Dags checked behind?

not unreasonable in a head up plo match with two aggressive players. david's range is wide and he calls on the flop to set up a bluff on the turn often enough that you can't always fold bottom set here.

with this line and the stack sizes, there is no doubt that an aggressive player like david will usually follow up with a turn bet here. if he checks turn (which i think he rarely will), i would smell a huge rat and often check behind.

Putting aside for the moment the question of whether DB's betting out on that particular card or any non-straigtening one after smoothcalling a checkraise on the flop should have changed Dags' read of DB's range, just how deep would the stacks have to be then for it to be unreasonable to go broke with bottom set and no draws here, even headsup?

David would play AT, ATQJ or a big straight draw like this. If you fold here against david you are going to get run over. HU PLO is an insanly aggressive and swingy game. 10 BI swings are nothing in HU plo.
