AA, facing all-in bet after the flop
I will try to ask more strategy questions this year.
There were several hands recently, which had one thing in common: I was facing an all-in bet after the flop with a pretty good hand. Here is one of them: PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) UTG+1 (t6375) MP1 (t2042) MP2 (t14355) MP3 (t12720) CO (t6478) Hero (t5535) SB (t10075) BB (t14140) UTG (t17760) Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls t200, 2 folds, MP3 calls t200, 1 fold, Hero raises to t600, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls t400, MP3 calls t400. Flop: (t2100) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) UTG+1 bets t5775 (All-In), MP3 folds, Hero - ??? It's a second hour of 3r. My read on the UTG+1: a very-very weird donk. Every time he hits the flop, he moves all-in. So he is sure he is ahead now. So his range is a set, two pairs or a king with some kicker. Do you call here with such a read? Probably, my PF raise was too small, but I didn't mind to see the flop with aces... |

Re: AA, facing all-in bet after the flop
A pf raise to 750-1000 would have probably been better given the two limpers already in the pot
This is a very easy all in. This is a simple math problem. There are more ways he can have a pair of kings than ways he can have KT+. Note: Against a player who we have no reads on this is also a call because most people are not open pushing sets into preflop raisers. |

Re: AA, facing all-in bet after the flop
I call here everytime. Here is a pokerstove with a range I think is right from your description of villian, plz correct me if you think otherwise.
Board: Kd 5s Th Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 73.573% 73.49% 00.08% 42198 47.50 { AdAs } Hand 1: 26.427% 26.34% 00.08% 15127 47.50 { JJ-TT, 55, AKs, KJs+, QJs, AKo, KJo+, QJo } [ QUOTE ] Probably, my PF raise was too small, but I didn't mind to see the flop with aces... [/ QUOTE ] I don't feel this is correct, yes your raise is too small (maybe 800-900 would be better) and you should mind seeing a flop multi-way with AA. |

Re: AA, facing all-in bet after the flop
Raise is too small over limpers, they will never fold and its harder against 2 players than just one. You also encourage BB to come along, making everyone's odds better. Raise from button will not get as much respect because it could look like a steal, so make it big and don't worry about people folding. Overbe3t looks totally novice, easy call and watch him turn up KJ...if he has KT you will have outs on turn and river but most people try to get trickier with sets and 2 pair. Easy call.

Re: AA, facing all-in bet after the flop
Thanks. That was exactly what I was thinking about the hand. Jiggymike's explanation was nearly perfect.
In reality I instacalled despite my weird read. He was not tricky though and flipped K-10. I sucked out with running 6-6 and better two pairs. Many thanks once again. I was probably a bit results-oriented here... |

and you should mind seeing a flop multi-way with AA. [/ QUOTE ] When I've got AA on the button give me 2 opponents rather than 1 any day. |
