Tell mentioned by TheDaveR in AQ in BB Thread
In the recent thread "AQs in BB versus LRR" TheDaveR said:

Re: Tell mentioned by TheDaveR in AQ in BB Thread
I don't think it's a well know tell, but one that can be picked up from time to time.
It can vary based on the situation but usually it means the player has a weak hand and is looking left to see if anyone is going to call. If the other players are going to fold, then it is safer to call. Most the time if someone flops a monster they aren't going to look left because they already decided to just call. |

Re: Tell mentioned by TheDaveR in AQ in BB Thread
Really? I interpreted DaveR's question differently as in, lemme look left to see if these guys are going to throw away their hands.
In either case, poker moves to the left, so I think a lot can be interpreted from someone looking left. People just want to know what the next people are doing or thinking about doing. |

Re: Tell mentioned by TheDaveR in AQ in BB Thread
Looking for a fold or looking for a call is the same to me. Either way it's looking left. And I think player do this more with a weak hand than a strong hand.
Also, I don't think players usually look left as a false tell. So if he paused for 10 seconds and didn't look left, then I would think MONSTER. If he paused for 10 seconds and meanwhile looked left to see when the other players were going to do then I would think a monster is less likely. |

I agree, it's always player dependent.

Re: Tell mentioned by TheDaveR in AQ in BB Thread
The other time I see a player look left is when he's in the middle and there's a LP preflop raiser and an EP donks on the flop.
He's wondering if the preflop raiser is going to pop it on the flop. Of course, bad players don't think about these things and just play their hole cards regardless. |
