Tim McCarver is the first name that comes to mind, without thinking. I'm sure he's forgotten more baseball in his left pinky than I'll ever know in my entire right foot, but I routinely find myself wondering if we are watching the same game.

After some thought: Larry King (the Hunchback of CNN) did some Braves games, and I remember feeling physical pain.

Hon Mentions.

I like that someone said Cosell. I know h had a fanbase, or if not that, a large group of people that felt he added a certain something important to the broadcast (maybe, the guy you love to hate)-- but I thought he was, quite simply, a terrible football guy and an enormous drag on the broadcast.

The A's had a guy named "Red Rush" who had this ridiculous over the top AM DJ radio voice who had pet names for other teams, eg, the Red Sox were "The Beantown Dudes."-- absolutely fricken painful.

Other: In the special category of the athlete who bombs when he starts before finding any semblance of a way (which most probably do). I remember being stunned at how ignorant Joe Willie Namath sounded when he started-- before he had any speech or coaching. Or how pronounced OJ's body movements used to be as he dodged phantom tacklers during his remotes.

I do. The game temperature was in the 20s. I believe Theisman himself pointed this out.

Joe Carter was really really bad the year he was doing Cubs games on WGN. He was constantly referring to Kerry Wood as Kerry Woods. When every game you announce involves the cubs you should be able to learn the name of their most prominent pitcher and also figure out that there is only one of him.

He gets a lifetime pass for Just like mom. That show was awesome, especially when the kids had to cook at the end, and the mom's had to eat the food and guess which horrible concoction was their kids.

Former relief pitcher Tom Hume did 1 season on Cincy Reds TV.
Not good at all.

On opening day we were laughing about how bad he was.
Then, somewhere around the 7th inning, I observed that I didn't think he had said anything in a half-hour or so.

I thought it wasn't entirely unrealistic that he was so bad that they just yanked him right then and there.

But in the 8th inning he chimed-in again with some other really bad comment. So much for that theory.

He looked and sounded more nervous to be on TV then anyone I've ever seen.
