99.9% of people in this world will do nothing to give you any personal joy. 1 great song is enough to like a band. Not go see them in concert or buy a box set but enough to like them.

How do you explain Blame it on the rain?

You have to really like a couple songs, and be able to listen to an entire CD.

I like this. There are many performers with good songs spread over otherwise crappy albums that you never listen to in their entirety. Especially with iPod and eveything. Those bands are out.

Well, I think it's copacetic to like an album, save one horrible song. Now, I'm a Neil Young fan, and I love Harvest as an album, but if that was all I had to go by, then I'd fail the criterion. To wit, every time I get to "There's a World" on my CD, it's auto-forward.

I'd say, for a minimum, you have to appreciate several deep tracks not played on the radio. None of this "Bruce is sooo cool! I LOVE 'Born in the USA!'" BS. (Plus, with this particular track, I bet you 10:1 this "fan" has completely misunderstood the song by listening to the chorus only.)

Also, with some groups (Floyd and the Who come to mind) you're really not getting the full experience if you don't listen to the albums. You might like "Love Reign O'er Me," but Quadrophenia was more than the sum of the tracks alone.

I'd say two songs per album on average. To say you like The Killers, this number would be 4. For someone like Springsteen, 40+.

You have to like at least one CD from start to finish.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree, especially if the band has multiple cds there is no issue with not liking one entirely. I'd probably say you have to really like 3ish songs and then have a strong liking for their style in general.

[/ QUOTE ]

Agree with the former quote. Strongly !DISAGREE! with the latter. If you don't like one of their albums front to back, you can't truly like a band/artist.

EDIT - 1 or 2 songs that you hate per album is allowable.
