NL400 2 weird hands.. need help
40/21/3.6 wts:9 / 73 hands
Opponent seemed to be very unreasonable and quite agressive.. A fold might have been to weak and if I 3bet flop he might call with a weak pair as well (quite unreasonable guy).. His Raise could be a pure bluff and I think my ace was live, too.. I thought he is agressive enough to hang himself on that turn.. Maybe AK, AA-JJ hard to predict.. I've seen player doing that freaky [censored] with worse hands than that.. May I muck preflop or raise? I liked to call and reevaluate on the flop.. I would have folded directly here but he allowed me to see a free card and bam Set Queens so how do I play that? Flop check screams for a monster but raising that much preflop is just bad.. so what can I do ? Just running extremely poor lately, seems I lose every deepstacked pot so I feel a bit afraid about my performance. Thoughts appreciated.. |

Re: NL400 2 weird hands.. need help
since villain is pretty short, i'd push flop. sure, he might call you with a marginal hand, but he might also be raising air and have to fold. also it's going to be a bitch to play oop on the turn/river whether or not you hit, as you saw.
on the turn villain has 200 left in a 178 pot, so i like the check. he's going to bet a lot of weak hands like 7x7d and Tx and then he'll be committed. it's hard to think of any hands that villain can have that will call a river bet but would not bet if you checked to him. Jx or better will bet pretty much every time, and call a c/r since it'll be small. i doubt he has a T after this action, since he didn't bet the turn. anyway, he may bet the river (dumbly) with a T. there's no reason to think he has an 8, and i doubt he's calling anything with a 6. so i'd c/r to get it all when he has something decent and give him one more chance to let him bluff. hand 2 i have no idea what he has with the big 3bet. i'm definitely not folding, and i like calling better than reraising. from there, looks totally standard. |

1. Donking turn for 1/2 pot works well against poor players.
2. Standard. |

Re: NL400 2 weird hands.. need help
In hand 1 - if thats the kind of player i suspect - just lead the turn again (just make it 100) mostly they will call you if they see the slimmest chance to improve their hand
