Default Calling All Movie Buffs -- Timothy Hutton

I will be interviewing Timothy Hutton tomorrow about an upcoming film he is starring in. It's called The Alphabet Killer, and it's being shot here in Rochester, NY (mainly because it's based on a series of Rochester murders and the chief investor wanted it shot here).

I, frankly, do not know all that much about Hutton.

What were his standout roles? Thoughts on him and his career?

Ordinary People. Great flick when he was young playing a high school kid who'd attempted suicide after his family had fallen apart after his brother's death in a boating accident. mary tyler moore as a hateful bitch mom and donald sutherland as the dad learning to grow a backbone.

Taps- military school is getting shut down. students don't like it and 'defend' it. real military gets involved. kids get killed. pretty cool.

Beautiful Girls is an all-time favorite of mine.

His career: seems like he's been underrated for most of it, and perhaps underachieving. He's always solid, but never really "broke out".

So true. I must have seen it 5000 times on HBO when I was growing up. Plus the film had the balls to kill off its headliner (George C. Scott) right out of the gate. Somehow this film has gotten lost in history.

Timothy Hutton on imdb. Surprised he didn't have much of a career, in fact didn't seem to do much in the 80s after that.
