Re: One Band For the Rest of Your life

[ QUOTE ] I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but Social Distortion is about as "hardcore" as No Doubt. [/ QUOTE ] HUH...the first two EP's, 1945 and Mainliner, and the full LP, Mommies Little Monster. Classic LA hardcore records. Circa late eighties. Have you ever heard these, by any chance? Obviously not. Social D. has undergone many transformations thru the years. As Mike Ness developed as a songwriter, he got way more introspective musically. Hence, the diversity in music styles, and why I would consider picking them. Is Social D. hardcore now, no way. -1 [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I've heard the entire catalogue. Of course, their earlier stuff was definitely harder (possibly even "hard"), I still wouldn't consider it "hardcore." I mean, maybe I'm biased because a.) I could never stand Social Distortion, and b.) I'm from D.C., but I have always thought of bands like Void and The Untouchables and Scream and SSD and DRI and Bad Brains and The Nihilistics and Murphy's Law and Agnostic Front and Reagan Youth as hardcore. |
