My best friend, and his college roomate that was assigned to him had this, but like a 10minutes difference (we are all good friends now). My old roomate and his godo friend from high school had this happen to, but it was an hour or so difference. I think this isnt as rare as youd think.

When I was 16 I used to work in this clothing store at the local mall. This girl who I worked with and I were chatting it up and I noticed she had a ring with the March birthstone on it (aquamarine?). I asked her what day she was born: 27th. Hey, me too. Come to find out we were both born on the same day, same year at the same hospital within 15 mintues of each other.

ps..never hooked up

[/ QUOTE ]

Having all that to work with and not hooking up = improbable.

there's probably more than one congifuration that is solved.

[/ QUOTE ]

If anyone could confirm this, I would appreciate it. But how many possible "solved" configurations can there be out of 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 total possible configurations?

[/ QUOTE ]

didnt read through thread prolly out there already, the number are locked into place, like the 5 is always in the middle, so that cuts down the possiblities drastically.

I've gone -6 over the first 5 holes of my course before (4 birdies, 1 eagle) though they aren't necessarily that tough of holes. I shot 34 on the front

And yet somehow you lived to tell the tale.

I would have toyed with golf tilt on a near suicidal scale.

one of the craziest/awesome things i have ever seen. you couldn't script this any better:

hockey

[/ QUOTE ]

this is definitely the winner in this thread so far

[/ QUOTE ]

Look at it one more time. I'm sure the puck hits something and that causes it to jump up, screwing the player for life.

everyone keeps saying this, and more specifically, that the goalies purposely thrash the area around the crease prior to leaving the net empty.

it is common knowledge that the goalies do this...

everyone knows it...

even poker players on the internets...

...the guy with the puck appearently didn't, or else he would have shot the damn thing before taking it so far towards the bumpy crease.

he was getting paid to know.

The 43 quintillion number is the actual correct number of configurations of any 3x3x3 Rubik's cube. The fact that the 5s are fixed doesn't help. As I've said before, the trick now is to determine how many states there are with the numerals 1-9 one every face exactly once, but not necessarilly in correct order (there may be as many as 12 indistinguishable "perfectly solved" states with the numbers in correct order; I'm not sure yet).
