At Caesar's IN, you can straddle all-in if you choose.

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe that by definition, that is not a straddle. It's just an allin blind raise.

Also I forgot to add, at the Rio during the WSOP they were letting people straddle on the button. They called it a Mississippi straddle (?). I hadn't heard of it before or since, but a lot of times almost the whole table was doing it. This forced the SB to act first preflop and the button to act last.

[/ QUOTE ]

MS straddle is premitted from any position assumign a leter position does not want it. This should not be confused with a regular straddle and is often a +EV play.

[/ QUOTE ]

+EV on the button.

In California, a straddle from any position is also called a kill. For example, in a 1/2 game you can put 5 in on the button (or any other spot) and kill it. Now it's 10 to go and you have last action pf.

If one guy kills it for 5, anyone else can throw in 10 and over kill it. Now he acts last pf and it's 20 to go.

I agree this is much better than a straddle; it can really get the action going.

The kill in Cal is slightly different from MS straddle. The kill the action skips the killer and he acts after the BB. The MS straddle starts to the left of the straddler so if you straddle on the button the SB goes first preflop.

It depends on the casino - at the Hustler, the kill poster acts in turn. At the Normandie, the kill poster acts last.

The dealer said, "You can straddle all-in if you want to." But maybe he was just keeping it simple. We constantly had $5 and $10 straddles at the 1/2NL tables.

People get the two confused all the time. Although come to think of it, if you raise blind all-in, who's to say you don't have "last action" with no chips left to take advantage of it?

At Harvey's Lake Tahoe they'll let you straddle how ever much you want. I was in a game recently with a guy who increased the size of his straddle by $1 each round and was straddling more than 20 bucks in a 2/3 no limit game.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, its slightly goofier then that. They will let you straddle up to the cap. So in the 2/3 game you can straddle up to $300.
