Most of you guys are making phenomenal mistakes when calculating this. You are giving this guy way too much credit. Yes, he is definitely one of the best return men in the history of the game but he still has to make it all the way to the endzone,

I am assuming the average guys run a 5.0 40 and can bench 200.

Without a blocker: 4-6
With: add 1.5

[/ QUOTE ]

haha you must not live in the same world we do... 5.0 with a 200 bench? those are like decent numbers for high school football players, and by decent i mean decent

If you had dion running right behind an nfl blocker, he'll pancake a ton of people before he is stopped, the problem with covering the whole field is that in his prime dion could easily run over an average guy, with an nfl blocker, and with training for the guys 15, without training 20

LOL-- FOUR?? Wow. you have never played football have you?

Its closer to 10

[/ QUOTE ]

After considering it some more, four would probably be slightly low. I'd be very comfortable saying 6 after further thought.

You people who say anything close to 10 and over must be kidding yourself. We're not talking about someone like Tamarick Vanover or Maurice Jones-Drew here. Those guys can just run over 1,2,or 3 normal guys and break tackles without a problem. In his entire career I doubt Deion broke much more than 3 tackles (yes, I understand we're talking about regular guys here). He was probably ~180 in his prime and he won't be simply running over everyone.

All the 10 guys are either severely overestimating Deion's ability to break tackles or severely underestimating the ability of each additional tackler to be able to cut down angles and neutralize Deion's speed.

While I now agree 4 is too low, I think 10 is just comical. The marginal utility of each additional defender is much greater than you guys think.

3 at most, possibly 2. Unless these fellows are idiots or have never played football they are in position to force Deion into one side of the field or the other. One takes out the blocker and the other two force him to the sideline. Then take himdown or force him out of bounds. The reason that these fellows break through in a football game is because of confusion. Too many people on the field. 3, no more.

If they didn't move I would assume he would walk until he was closer or they started moving.

With no blocker I would say 6 people would push it just over 50%

With a blocker 8

People saying number 15-20 is ridiculous... the ability to mob him and influence a trip is way to large. With 20 people he would score < 1%
