Re: 1/2 Stars 22 on the button
I don't mind the idea, but you've got some problems:
1) It's a multiway pot. You're not as likely to chase someone else (people love calling on these kind of flops anyway), someone's likely to have hit a hand, etc. 2) Even if you're ahead, your equity sucks. You're even behind a random hand. |

[ QUOTE ]
Small blind is standard TAG. MP is uberloose but fairly agrro: 80/10/1.8 or so. BB is loose passive. How do u like the flop raise?? PokerStars 1/2 Hold'em (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) Preflop: Hero is Button with 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls, Hero calls, <font color="#CC3333">SB raises</font>, BB calls, MP calls, Hero calls. Flop: (8 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> SB bets, MP calls, BB calls, CO calls, Hero raises [/ QUOTE ] With this many loose aggressive players in for a bet you're darn right I'm playing that pair for a small bet. A raise by the SB leads to an obvious pre-flop completion. It ends there. FOLD the flop. You may be ahead, but you won't stop the turn and river cards from splashing down on the board, and most of the time they will not be deuces. Sometimes they will be deuces and you'll still lose. Fold the flop. |

Re: 1/2 Stars 22 on the button
I hade a mistake in the OP there were only 3 villains, no CO. The reason I posted was that i thought it was a dubious at the time but it worked exactly as id hoped. The TAG called and the 2 donkeys folded for my flop raise. TAG checked turn and folded to my bet. Still u guys are probably right that its a bad move.

Re: 1/2 Stars 22 on the button
This is as bad a play as you can make. You must apply reverse implied odds in this spot. If you read any books by skylansky this will help you out. In a pot like this you should not make this play regardless. You are reraising when it is obvious everyone is going to call again. You are building the pot here so that everyone else will not fold later on in the hand since they are getting great odds. No one is going to fold, you are drawing dead to 2 outs and when you make your hand (about 10% of the time) you most likely wont get paid off, and otherwise you will be paying off everyone else. Horrendous play, look to skylanskys books to understand why.

Re: 1/2 Stars 22 on the button
This hand is 0/2 IMO.
If I play this preflop its a raise. That said I will usually fold unless the limper is really bad and blinds really tight. As a default I would prolly raise down to around 55. The flop raise is pretty much as bad as it gets. You are folding nothing and your pot equity sucks ass. Only 1 of the callers need to have a hand to make your eq around 8%. Even if you are ahead your equity is prolly no greater than 30-40% - you have to dodge a trilion overcards. |
