Dealers commenting on the play.
While waiting for my 20/40 table, I sat down at a 1-2nl at Foxwoods this past weekend.
The dealer, Frenchy, who I've always liked and thought was generally pleasant would not shut up about the hands after it was over. Such comments as "You had to know you were beat, why'd you call?" to a player who just called an all in with bottom pair. "Woah big pot, Woah bigger raise! This guy's crazy" During a hand. "That hand's trash throw it away" While a player agonized about a preflop decision. This really pissed me off. Am I a nitty old man or is this totally unacceptable? |

Re: Dealers commenting on the play.
No, you are not a nit. You have every right to be upset by this.
This happened to me recently in Reno, where an old regular called my all in when I had the nuts. The dealer was pushing me the pot while saying "how could you call that there. You knew you were beat." He did not get a tip on that hand. |

The dealer, Frenchy, who I've always liked and thought was generally pleasant would not shut up about the hands... [/ QUOTE ] I guess one has to be prepared for a certain amount of Hollywood going on at the low-limit tables. These things attract the same crowd as the $10 blackjack tables, and I don't mind the dealers entertaining them if it doesn't affect the game. Dealers on the Strip in Vegas, for example, are really good at entertaining beginners at $3/$6 and $4/$8, and I'm positive it helped my bottom line when I played those limits. That said... [ QUOTE ] "Woah big pot, Woah bigger raise! This guy's crazy" During a hand. [/ QUOTE ] Not really revealing anything interesting. This can be annoying in a steady dose, but it's not bad at $1/$2 NL. [ QUOTE ] "That hand's trash throw it away" While a player agonized about a preflop decision. [/ QUOTE ] Messing with somebody's action? I see the joke that's being tried here, but even joking around (the dealer couldn't possibly know what the player's holding), I don't want players being goaded away from making mistakes. [ QUOTE ] "You had to know you were beat, why'd you call?" to a player who just called an all in with bottom pair. [/ QUOTE ] Completely, outrageously unacceptable at any game. Talking to the dealer and/or floor after the down about this one does not make one a nit, and it's not close. |

Re: Dealers commenting on the play.
I don't think I've been dealt to by Frenchy, but his rotation was next to my table last time at FW just before Christmas. Our dealer and some players were chatting about how he managed to get fired from Mohegan then sued them for wrongful termination.
Totally irrelevant; I just figured I'd throw it in in case OP cares. |

Re: Dealers commenting on the play.
This is one of the reasons I don't like pooled tokes. If a dealer is out of line I don't feel like tipping him, however I feel like I'm stiffing all the other good dealers.

Re: Dealers commenting on the play.
josh, pull him aside next time and tell him you think its unappropriate while you're playing. tell him he can do whatever he wants while you're not playing.. but while you're paying rake and what not.. and at the table.. thats unacceptable.. he'll understand.
he did such a thing like this while i was at 75/150 stud and i told him to knock it off b/c this may be a joke to him while dealing the cards but to me playing 3-handed w/ about $20k on the table isnt such a joke to me. |
