Maybe not the toughest, but I think the only NES game I had that I never beat was TMNT (the original).

Almost any text adventure is retarded. It's not even like "okay we have an apple, a candlestick, a piece of gum, cow turds, and silly string - now how do we open this box?" That would be easy.
It's random crap like "oh I see, I had to go stand in the Courtyard and randomly type 'yell at the bird' so that he comes and flies me to his nest". |

anything nominated by the angry nintendo nerd. [/ QUOTE ] I love these. I was gonna post them here but they're easy enough to YouTube. His review of TMNT is my favorite since I spent countless hours on that god forasaken game when I was a young kid. |

[/ QUOTE ] The Infocom games, at least, were pretty good at not having these stupid "guess the verb" type puzzles, etc., and most of them gave you enough in-game info to win. There were still a few, though (Spellbreaker comes to mind) that I can't imagine more than 1% of people finishing w/o hints, though. At least I played these in the good old days when one couldn't just Google a walkthru in a moment of weakness...you'd have to go to the trouble of buying/ordering a hint book, etc., so there was more motivation to actually figure it out. |
