i think it's funny that after the loss to the jets in the mud the pats install turf when they used to purposely make the field muddy against the colts so peyton would struggle

Well, part of that is the league put pressure on them to replace the field, because it was getting ridiculous. AND, at the time there was no reason to think Indy would be playing IN New England anytime soon (not the playoffs). Also, you can over or under-fill the field they installed with extra "dirt" to adjust how fast it plays.

I can't get my head around 9.5 points here. Even if the first game saw a fluky Jets comeback, that's still a possibility. Even if the second game woke up the Pats, it's still almost 10 points.

Is this really a 24-13 type game?

I agree w/ OP; I don't get which part of 24-13 seems far-fetched? NE is better at all the really important spots like QB/OL/DL/coach - the only edge the Jets have is at WR & Special Teams. Sure, another fluky Jets comeback like the 1st game is a possibility, but this is NE at home in the playoffs - I think a hard fought 16-10 game that gets cemented with a turnover or big play by Brady late is more likely.

NEP have come up 3 points short ATS* all season long.

Seems like "The playoffs are Different" is what many are hanging their hats on.

Right now, it's NE -8.5 at Bowmans, if anybody likes that a little better.

You can get -8.5 at a lot of places, but the 9 is such a dead number that I'd much rather take -9.5 with positive juice than -8.5 at -110, or even -105 for that matter.

I can't speak for the Patriots past motivations, but I think that a sloppy field will always benefit the underdog as it introduces more luck into the game.
