$10k/hole is probably a relatively normal every day bet for Ivey.

[/ QUOTE ]

This reason alone makes Pavin the favorite. Ivey probably has much less interest in making sure this bet is +EV than Pavin does. I'd guess that Pavin knows this is a total sucker bet.

Stink,

You said you liked Ivey in the bet above. I said I'd take action.

Even money.

God this thread turned crappy. Please everyone stop posting unless they have specific Ivey/Pavin info.

If you think a 10 handicapper could break par on ANY course you know NOTHING about golf.

[/ QUOTE ]

In my prime, I have shot from middle tees even par for 9 twice, and 4 over for 18 once. My average at the time was probably 10 over on fairly easy courses I had played many times. All it takes is a good putting day. I really question how much YOU know about golf.

[/ QUOTE ]

Being a golf pro (Teaching not tour) I think I do know what I am talking about! Most people have no clue as to how bad a 15 handicap is and how great tour pros are! Being a scratch golfer myself I would gladly take Pavins place in that bet! Once again, Ivey has NO CHANCE!

[/ QUOTE ]

I just think your above statement shows you have little understanding of either:

A. The scoring range of a 10 handicapper
B. The ease of various courses

Perhaps your own experiences with students are not reflective of true swings. Chances are a struggling 10 handicapper is more likely to seek lessons than a 10 handicapper in a groove.

I agree that pavin should win

P.S. Negreanu says he's the best putter he's ever seen (from his forum).

the only bet i offered on ivey was that he could break par in a 2-shot scramble, but that was when i thought he was a legit 15-handicap, which doesn't necessarily appear to be true.

but since i did say that, i'll bet you $100 if we can set this up in some legit way.

stinky,

Doesn't seem fair if he is misrepresenting himself. I don't think Ivey in the scenario above beats Pavin and thats what I was looking for action on.

I think a legit 15 is a severe longshot to break par in a 2-ball scramble. I'm a 14 and I tend to break 80 once or twice a year.

I can say I would really need a great round to break par scrambling 2 balls. I certainly wouldn't bet on it in any given round. Too much chance for a high handicapper to take a big number or two and toss par right down the drain.

breaking 80 on a course of average difficulty is pretty much equivalent to breaking par on the course in question. and you do it playing straight up. imagine what you'd score scrambling.

Read the link posted on a previous page. even from the forward tees TPC is harder than the typical USGA rated course. You still have no clue as to what your talking about
