Max straddle at Foxwoods 1-2NL is either 5 or 6, isn't it? I'm pretty sure it wasn't 4.

At Caesar's IN, you can straddle all-in if you choose.

Not true. Last year we straddled at the Wynn 5 ways and each one was live when we didn't straddle 5x.

I'm confused by this sentence - 5 ways, each one was live if you DIDn"T straddle 5x??

I don't get what you mean here...

In NYC private games anything bigger than 2x the BB placed by UTG is called a dark raise, and it is not live.

[/ QUOTE ]

that may have been true in a game you played in, but it was definitely a $75 straddle in a $25 blind. and because i had never seen that before i asked, and everyone explained it was indeed a straddle and that you could either straddle 2x or 3x. and indeed at least one person did straddle to $75 almost every round

[ QUOTE ]
NYC games also have whats called a sleeper which is similar to a straddle but it allows the hero to remove the raised blind in nobody calls. Sleepers are never UTG, and its very rarely performed (I've only seen it 2x)

i think you probably meant to say "allows the hero to remove the raised blind IF SOMEBODY calls". they were never allowed at AcePoint or Akula, but i remember back in the Playstation and Skylight days it was quite common to see sleepers and re-sleepers.

Five players agreed to straddle, and it was usually straddled at least 3 or 4 times. The last straddle was always live. If it was capped pre-flop then of course the straddle is not live.

So each re-straddle was equal to the previous straddle, and only the last one was live, is that what you mean?

Somehow I imagined that re-straddles were each incremented by the size of the BB...

At Harvey's Lake Tahoe they'll let you straddle how ever much you want. I was in a game recently with a guy who increased the size of his straddle by $1 each round and was straddling more than 20 bucks in a 2/3 no limit game.

In Washington State, the casinos I've visited allow straddles in LIMIT but NOT in No Limit. WTF?!

[/ QUOTE ]

Basically, in lieu of no-limit, WA allows 2 tribal casinos to spread up to $500 max-buy-in and max-bet Spread Limit. Likely the gov't sets a whole number of rules around that, including blind sizes.

[/ QUOTE ]

Nah, it's because both major tribals in WA state have a Byzantine and self-contradictory set of rules. Tulalip even has a rules card that is wrong (oversize chip rule doesn't apply in cash games--rules card says it does).

Limit game 5/10. UTG straddles to $10, UTG +1 re-straddles to $15, next player re-straddles to $20. Does that help?

Treasure Island in Vegas is the only casino I am aware of that allows a straddle of any amount from the UTG position in their 1/3NL game ($500 max).

Every other room in Vegas allows live straddles, but only double the big blind, and only from the UTG position. Most rooms allow a "blind raise" from any position, but it is not live, and the person that does it will not have the option of rasising when action gets to him.
