I'm at Oxford in the UK, just wondered how you Americans would compare it to ivy league schools. I hear for undergrad degrees, we have basically the most resources poured into us than anywhere else in the world, does this sound about right from your experiences of Harvard, Stanford etc

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure about the facts on the Oxford's resources, but one of the reason that Pricenton often gets ranked ahead of Harvard for undergrads is that Harvard has a stronger focus on graduate education.

As for American perception, most would rank Oxford on the level of Harvard, Yale, Stanford or Princeton.

All,

Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, etc. degrees are all pretty equivalent in the US imo. However, internationally, the name Harvard definitely still makes a difference. Also still makes a difference in certain society circles.

Psh like anyone gives a [censored] about Stanford outside the West Coast or Internet Biz. (j/k j/k)

I went to the Harvard of Canada, lol

I've heard "harvard of the north" used to describe the university of toronto once or twice, but it's extremely uncommon. u of t students (and profs) generally think fairly highly of the institution, and wouldn't put themselves below harvard like that.

it's much more common to hear how easy harvard is/how hard u of t is, cuz everyone gets As at harvard and everyone fails at u of t.

Yale is clearly the Harvard of New Haven (although Quinnipiac is getting up there).

Are there similar claims made about party schools?

Is there one pre-eminent party school that the second-tier party schools would want to claim equal status with?
