Default How to personalize existing chips

This is from somebody I work with. Any suggestions? I saw a post or two about labels, but does anyone know of a place that will engrave or stamp existing chips?

I have a set of poker chips with sentimental value and I'd like to put some initials on each of the chips. The end result should be nice and permanent but it doesn't have to be perfect. I'm not sure how to do this, I guess possibilities are engraving, stamping, or even getting a nice calligrapher to just write on the chips. Any suggestions? Does anybody knows where this can be done?

Labels and hotstamping are your two main options. I have a set of chips that are similar to faux clays and were given Metallic Sharpie artwork about six months ago... after a night a week of normal use, the artwork has worn off. Don't just apply ink to chips... it'll wear away.

Labels might be your best bet assuming there's some sort of recess in the chip. As far as hot stamping, usually places will only do it if you buy the chips from them. Is the place you bought them from still in business? You might be able to send them back and have them stamped.

As far as writing on them -- bad idea. No matter what kind of ink/paint you use, it will start to wear off with use and will look terrible. I play in a game every now and then where the guy decided to draw edge spots on diamond chips with a Sharpie. Words can't describe how incredibly lame they look. Every new player to the game looks and eventually says in disbelief: 'Did you ACTUALLY draw these spots on?'

These chips are not likely to be used in a game - it's more for display purposes. They were bought through a random online distributor, not a manufacturer, so it's unlikely they can be sent back and stamped. What he's looking for is more like a tasteful souvenir type of chip - so labels might be too cheap looking, and he's not worried about ink fading with use, although if the chip surface doesn't take the ink well to begin with, then it's still no good.

Maybee you can try a trophy shop or one of those "Things Remembered" kiosks at a mall.

There has to be a place where this could be done.
