I have a pair of aces you know
5/10 4-handed 6 max game on WPX, villian is unknown to me.
UTG folds, button raises, sb folds, I call in the BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Flop (4.5 SBs): T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check, villian bets, I raise, villian calls. Turn (4.25 BBs): 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet, villian raises, I call. River (8.25 BBs): Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I check, villian bets, I call because I never fold anything. |

Re: I have a pair of aces you know
The only redeeming thing I see about your hand is that you have top pair, which is the nuts, and you split with A2-A7

Re: I have a pair of aces you know
I don't get it, what hand is villain ever raising the turn & betting the river here with that you beat? He knows you have a hand once you c/r flop & call the turn raise.
If he thinks you have the flush draw, he checks behind. If he thinks you have a pair of Aces, he expects a c/c. If he thinks you have a straight, he expects a c/r |

Re: I have a pair of aces you know
With my experience on WPEX, when I was raised on the turn after showing strength on the flop with an ace or king high board TPTK was no good.
That being said with his raise on the turn after you raised the flop tells me he want a free SD with a lesser hand or has you beat. The Q completes other hands that now beat you if he was on a semibluff (QTs,KJ etc). His follow through on the river tells me he has you beat. You can only beat a busted flush draw. The odds are compelling but I would fold the river. |

Re: I have a pair of aces you know
A line to consider here, HU is Check/call, check/call, bet/fold. It will solve most of your OOP problems. C/R this flop is near pointless.

Re: I have a pair of aces you know
This is actually a pretty interesting flop spot. It's definitely not just wa/wb.
Villian has hands with all manner of equity against he. better As, pocket pairs, and draws. Obviously we looks for a line that a) loses the least when behind b) wins the most when ahead c) charges draws the best we can d) frustrates people I think c/r the flop is best. In general I don't like the c/c c/c donk line as I think it's pretty close to strategically dominated in most situations. Letting villian check through the turn with lots of hands he want to check with displeases me. In the actual hand he checked behind on the turn with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I'd started thinking about the river action on the turn but hadn't decided what I was going to do. |
