you don't remember stuff as well as you would if you wrote it down.

Re: Any live players take notes
Get one of those Lil Reminder thingys (mini-MP3 dictation device). Stick it in your pocket. Walk one out of every four rounds. Dictate notes to self while walking.
Take a few notes on your own holes while you're at it. |

Re: Any live players take notes
You guys misunderstood. I don't take notes at the table. I keep a pad in my pocket and usually get up from the table every 1-2 hours for a piss break, food etc. I make some quick notes then or sometimes on the ride home and then copy them into a more permant place afterwards.
Remembering what a player did six or ten hours ago during play is not a problem it's when we meet up again a week/month later that the notes come in handy. Once the notes are in print and I have a face and name to associate them with I can pull them up from memory. |

Re: Any live players take notes
I guess I am the laziest one on this forum, that I don't take notes at all. I just try to figure out their basic strategy (not TAG, LAG, or SlAG, or LAP) and go from there. I usually can get this accomplished pretty fast.
I do take notes on every single mistake that I make though. I don't think it matters who, specifically, I make this mistake to, just that I made it in a bad situation that I fear I will repeat down the road, against a similar opponent. How many different playing styles are there anyway, that are so difficult to exploit? |

Re: Any live players take notes
Interesting. . .
There have been times during long sessions (50-60 hours long) that I have written down my hands in order to ensure myself that I'm running badly. It helps me to refrain from getting impatient and to remind myself that inevitably good cards are coming. I do not think keeping a little notepad at the table is a good idea. There is a fellow at foxwoods who wears one earplug and always writes down notes, he equals douchebag. And everyone refers to him as "the douchebag that takes notes" I do however occasionally and discreetly record hands into my cellphone to remember later. |

Re: Any live players take notes
I think that another problem with taking notes is that it implies that your opponent is playing the exact same way every day. I am guessing that if my opponent has half a functioning brain, this is not at all true. I know that I do not play the same way everyday, because I have to adjust. A player make "tweek" their strategy because they are trying to figure the game out. Or they may be playing more aggresively against an opponent they don't like, or a player they think is good (read: bluffable). They may be tired, or have something on their mind. I am not convinced about note-taking.
