need a casual date line
here's the setup: i'm going to a city this weekend where a girl i have some interest in lives. i don't know her well at all - we really just met once in another city on business.
i ask her for some recs on what to do/where to go in her city this weekend - she sends me a nice email with some ideas. she also ends it by giving her cell number to call "if i get lost". i would like to meet her somewhere for whatever, but don't want to seem pushy. how strong of a signal is giving her phone number that she wants to get together? |

Re: need a casual date line
To find the casual date lines, just watch some tv late at night. Based on those commercials, hot girls are just waiting by the phone for your call.
Seriously though, you only met this girl once. Who knows what she means by "if i get lost." But it is a step in the direction of "call me". I say give her a call or email, saying you want to go out this weekend, and if she's interested in coming out with, you'd like her to. |

Re: need a casual date line
arrive, check-in and then call her and tell her you are lost. when she asks where you are, give her your hotel name and room number.
you will know within 30 seconds following if she wants to [censored] you. |

Re: need a casual date line
Joe,
I think the best play is to suggest something simple like coffee or a drink, but hint at the possibility of dinner. She'll get the idea but won't feel too pressured. I'd send her an email like: "Hey XXXX, it's good to hear from you and thanks for the recomendations. If your not too busy let's try to get together for a drink or dinner while I'm in town." |
