Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises to t500</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to t900</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Hero?

This is from a 5.50, and so far the play had been pretty bad. What would you guys do in this spot?

That's a serious raise from UTG you have to fancy he will call. Button is pot committed so I find an easy fold.

If UTG and Button want to go to war here it's still good for you.
You have a great stack already.
JJ is a worse hand than it looks.

I fold here and don't feel bad about it at all.

If "pretty bad" means UTG has been raising w/ hands like J4s, K2o and Q6 then you should push. If "pretty bad" means everybody has been limping everything but Aces or Kings and only raising when they had the nuts then you should fold.

Unless both of these guys are extremely tight I would often push here. UTG has made an opening raise but at a five handed table opening UTG isn't as strong as full. He'll have to have a premium hand to call off all his chips after two reraises.

Wouldn't button have to raise to twice UTG's bet? At any rate, again unless he was especially tight, I wouldn't think he'd need a better hand than jacks to make this move. He could easily have 77-TT, AK-AQ, or even (less likely) a smaller pair or AJ-AT, KQ.

This is a 5.50 right? Have they become that tight to where hero is not ahead of button's range? I think I'd shove this. There's 500 dead chips if UTG folds and you are set to pwn the bubble if you win this hand. If you lose, you are still in good shape.

I should have explained in the original post that by bad, i mean loose bad, calling raises with weak hands and then paying off bets with any pair. I folded here and felt pretty good about it. They ended up both having AK. I am happy that mostly all the posters agreed that this is a pretty standard fold and will save a lot of money in the long run.
