Sets on 4-flush board
Same LP villain. In hand 1 he showed top 2 pair no diamond.
I missed a good chance to bust him didn't I? Re: Sets on 4-flush board
They don't have it a lot. That second hand he does have it a lot.
And you HAVE to bet the river in areas like the first hand or else a lot of medium pots will get pushed to your opponent who shows Kx T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |

So u don't think his turn check/mini-raise of hand 2 is a bluff, because he follows up w/ a 3/4-pot push? |

Re: Sets on 4-flush board
His turn bet could be a bluff, but his river bet rarely is on a board like that. I don't like pushing the turn, you're only getting called by hands that beat you. I think you played hand 2 well, but have to fold the river.

Explain this. Sounds like this method will end up with a lot of LARGE pots getting pushed to your opponent. Or am I missing something? Is it standard to bluff here? I think villain is the one kicking himself for not betting the river in hand 1. Hand 2 looks good. Fold river obv. If you were worried about the flush with 3 hearts, 4 should be a no-brainer. |

Re: Sets on 4-flush board
Fold the river on the second hand. I don't think missing the push on the turn is a big mistake though. I think it is a good option to be used some times, calling is right at times also.

Re: Sets on 4-flush board
Hand 1 :
You should consider every bet on the river as a pure bluff. Since you have a set, you have some showdown value. Only a pretty donky villain calls you without a flush. And IMHO only donkey bets here with a set. If he bets the river in the first hand, i might call a smaller bet. But when i do that, its basically a bluff-catcher and not a "value-call" Hand 2: raise turn a bit bigger. River is an easy fold. Thats just how things happen sometimes. |
