Hawaiian Gardens is a shithole

Last night I decided to take my girlfriend to HG to play some $20 NL since she doesn't play poker and we just wanted to have a good time together. About 2 hours in the place starts to stink from sewage. I mean, it really reeked and just before we all threw up we grabbed our chips and ran out. Now I've got $174 in HG chips and I have to drive all the way back to that shithole to cash them.

Unless things have changed they will cash them at another club (well give you chips to play anyway). When I worked at the Bike I would often takes chips to HG to cash out becasue it was much closer to my house.

Most clubs accept HG chips.

I think the main problem is they are overusing the building, which was only supposed to be temporary. Because they are so packed they can jam the tables in; this makes the place overly claustrophobic for me so I avoid it except for slow periods (the food is the best IMHO).

Plans to build a huge parking garage making room to build a new two story building larger than the Commerce seem to be put on hold; it looks like the owners want to milk this cash cow as long as possible (it is reasonable that they fear eventual competition to the south in Garden Grove, the Indians may have an "in" to build a large casino with slots and stuff there). Too bad, it could be the place that competes with the Commerce for number one.

Well, it was for both of us. She was up more than me due to some unbelievably bad calls on her part that paid off. 2 guys go AI for about $36 in front of her and she calls with a K4s preflop. Flop is 44x. LOL. If she hadn't been the prettiest one at the table she might have been punched out by this one guy. Another time she makes a call preflop with A6o against a guys $20 AI push and he turns over KJ and she holds up. Gotta love it.

And Rick, the place was jammed with people. I didn't realize how big it was - 2 large rooms off to each side - until the [censored] hit the fan (literally) and we ran out. And what's up with the 4:30 AM tourney? Do they really get any players?

Her play was totally standard for that game. Hell, she probablly had the best hand.

They had 100 players at the 4:30 AM tourney a week ago. And four full tables of 100NL when I left at 5am.
